Every 5 seconds

The ravenous faces of a hundred starving Somali's flashed across my tv screen as I ate my breakfast. Poverty, hunger, death. I am finding it hard to reconcile my full, blessed life with the statistics before me.

16,000 children die from hunger related causes EACH DAY. Thats one child every 5 seconds. 854 million people across the world go hungry. Most families below the poverty line (that's over 1 billion people) do not have enough to grow their own food or to meet daily requirements to stave off hunger.

Simply put, over 1 billion people starve daily. I am sat here, far removed from it all and quite unable to reconcile the disparity in my heart. I want to do my part to help, there is so much I want to do... but where do I start... and how?
