Sorry, it's not shining!
I was in Blockbusters recently and saw the DVD "Shining Through" stuffed in the bargain box. I remember watching it with Morty a while back. Michael Douglas and Melanie Griffith; released in 1992, one of those epic war movies with an all star cast. I used to LOVE it. My memories of it being "one of the best movies ever!" was shattered when Morty and I decided to watch it again. It all starts brilliantly until Melanie, the protagonist, gets shot in the stomach TWICE but doesn't die. She drops 15 feet down a laundry chute, remains in that position for 24 hours, gets revived by Michael Douglas who gives her a pill "for the pain", she takes a taxi with him to town, walks up 2 flights of stairs to the train station (faltering only twice), lies in his arms in the train and manages to have some banter with him. She then passes out but survives the entire ordeal DESPITE him getting shot in through the lung and leg whilst carrying her across the Swiss border.
RIGHT!! I'm sorry but if Arnold Schwarz got shot ONCE through the gut, he'd probably only last an hour, max. What a rubbish movie. Just goes to show what time, cynicism and a little bit of growing up can do to once held notions of greatness.
