Darkness (23/8/07)

Constricted breathing. A feeling of suffocation, walls closing in, heart beating faster, everything is getting smaller, I'm pounding my fists against the darkness that closes in on me and suddenly, nothing. No air, no space, no time. Just an abyss of black. Suspended in a constant state of numbness, I hear and feel nothing. The darkness folds me into itself and I feel my eyes getting tired. I cascade into sleep, voices grow faint. I cannot think and I drift into numbness. Light. Suddenly, pain sears across my face. I feel ice, my brain is screaming for air. I see light and I gasp. I dont know where I am.

Darkness and light play against each other, in tandem. Both call me in turn, whispering words that sound like the wind. I cant breathe. Suddenly, I recognise cold, fear and fatigue. My eyelids grow heavy, I am confused. I am swept into darkness again. And on it went, for what felt like forever.
