Flickr-ing back
Okay, so I've disappeared for 2 months...But I'm back with Flickr so maybe that will redeem me? Besides, they say a picture paints a thousand words. (check out new link on right panel, i.e: Photo Gallery! Yay!)
Work, life...it all seems to whizz past. I was on the train this morning and sat next to an elderly (70 year old, I think) Scottish lady. She had the loveliest dark green eyes, and the cottonest (yes, I made that word up) white hair ever. I just wanted to reach over and squeeze her and say "Goodness, you look like a storybook granma!" I think she would have (very possibly) whacked me with her tartan umbrella though, so I resisted the urge. I decided to smile instead, and true to form, she said "Hello".
"Lovely day, isnt it?" she said. I grinned back and said "Yes, perfect picnic weather." We ended up talking for about an hour, until I got to my stop. The conversation evolved around where I was travelling from, and ultimately, the wedding I attended in Manchester over the weekend. I poured my heart out to a complete stranger (maybe it was because she was a complete stranger...) and left the train feeling strangely dazed.
My friend Janice got married on 5 August 2006. It was a beautiful wedding, with plenty of laughter, familiar faces...and a chocolate fountain. (Every wedding should have one!) A glorious occassion....but admittedly, it was a wedding that dragged me down the rocky road of memory lane, barefooted. I wasnt quite prepared, the groom being the cousin of my ex and all. But hey.
Ultimately, I laid my heart bare in front of a 70 year old cotton haired, tartan umbrella holding, storybook granma. When I arrived at my station, she simply said, "keep believing". I squeezed her hand. I said, "I will." Entertaining angels unaware. Who knows, eh?
