No Grey Matter

Long before philosophy and academics reared their ugly heads, God said, "Let your "yes" be "yes" and your "no" be "no". It was clear and easy-to-follow but here we are, 2000 years on, still straggling the middle line, often not because we mean to be disobedient, but because we cant seem to make a choice and stick to it.
The quicksand of the 21st century is all this grey matter we create for ourselves. "Should I? Perhaps not. But oh, maybe a little. I probably should do this, but wait...maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I shouldn't..."
I suppose it's easier to hide in the grey because there is a certain comfort in not having to commit to a specific choice. The finality in deciding "Black" or "White" can present the stark and often frightening consequence of "well, your'e stuck with it now".
The grey can get greyer; it can even be a shade so close to black that you could be fooled. But really, at the end of the day - it's still grey, huh?
Something has to be said of the way the heroes of yesteryear charged onward, despite the threat of certain death. Something has to be said of Jesus, who loved with all of himself and of gave all of himself. Something has to be said about daring to wager everything you have on a choice, and even when things spin out of control....sticking to that choice... because your "Yes" was a "Yes".
As I sit here in the wee hours of the morning, it hits me.... "Dude!! There is no grey in passion. And if we are to be passionate, we are to be definitive."
